Happy New Year! A brand new decade has started! This decade could be as exciting and exhilarating as you decide to make it. Most people go about making resolutions at the start of the calendar year. However, a survey reveals that four out of five people who make New Year’s resolutions eventually break them. As a matter of fact, thirty percent won’t even make it to the end of January!

How can you keep from quitting your resolutions? Here are some tips:

  1.  Goals must be written: Writing down your goals gives you clarity and removes clutter from your mind. It helps you visualise those things that you want to achieve.

  1.  Goals must be attainable: If resolutions are managed in the form of attainable goals, the likelihood to succeed is higher. You are setting yourself for defeat if your goals are unworkable. They have to be realistic.

  1.  Goals must be measurable: Chances to achieve your goals increase if you can measure by something. If your goal is weight loss, it is highly unlikely that you will lose it all at once. It will make a big difference if you set the objective of loosing one or two kilos a month.

  1.  Goals must have a deadline: Setting a deadline keeps you motivated. It makes you determined to achieve your goal.

  1.  Find a partner: The chance to falter decreases when you declare your goals to a confidante. Finding a partner or a group who will hold you accountable is a great way to keep you on track. This will encourage you to work regularly when you know that someone will inquire about your progress.

  1.   Have fun on the way: Make the journey fun and rewarding. Celebrate small victories as you go along. You will get a sense of accomplishment. This helps you remain focused and savour big success later.

So let’s make this the best decade of your life, as you work towards being the best version of yourself!
